MARCH 2024 / RSV VAX RISK, WALGREENS TO CLOSE ALL VILLAGEMD LOCATIONS IN FLORIDA
DATA SUGGESTS RSV VACCINATION POSES SLIGHT RISK OF NEUROLOGICAL CONDITION
The CDC has released safety data indicating a possible association between respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccines and Guillain-Barré syndrome.
CDC officials reported that the findings were preliminary and cited that much more surveillance would be needed. They also emphasized that the relative risk was low.
According to data collected from several government databases, including CMS and the FDA, research revealed an incidence rate of approximately 1 case of Guillain-Barré syndrome per 40,000 doses of RSV vaccine administered.
WALGREENS TO CLOSE ALL VILLAGEMD CLINICS IN FLORIDA
Walgreens will be shutting all VillageMD primary care offices located in Florida.
Investment firm Jefferies reports there are more than 50 clinics in Florida. These branches are all housed in Walgreens stores.
Walgreens reported in October of last year that it would begin closing 60 VillageMD locations as a cost-cutting measure.
